Wedding Party To-Do's in Austin + The Hill Country

If I’m not hunkered down at my computer planning events, you can probably find me adventuring around Austin and the Hill Country with friends and family.

Honestly, if I wasn’t an event planner, my other dream career would be a travel journalist. I always wanted to host a travel + food show like Giada De Laurentiis :)

Whenever my couples families ask what to do around Austin, I gladly share this list with them.

So I thought, why not share it with the rest of y’all?

Local Austin To Do’s:

  1. Get a day pass at Crux Climbing Gym, and visit Cosmic Coffee and Beer Garden next door for a bite to eat at one of the local food trucks. Their craft cocktails are also incredible! My favorite food truck is Pueblo Viejo (their veggie taco is AMAZING) and my fave drink is the Secret Beach (big fan of gin and guava)!

  2. Dip into Barton Springs Pool for a refresh and amazing views. The pool is fed from underground springs and feeds into Lady Bird Lake. It has an incredible view of the city and is surrounded by Zilker Parks 358 acres.

  3. Paddle Board or Kayak through downtown Austin and pack a cooler full of snacks and drinks. You can see the bats come out from underneath the S. Congress Bridge right before sunset. I thought this was kinda creepy, but my parents loved it!

  4. Terry Blacks BBQ is a must! Their brisket is mouth-watering and you can walk-off the meat sweat at Zilker Park. Seriously, you haven’t seen BBQ until you go to Terry Black’s. You can family-style it and get all the cornbread, sides, and meats you want!

  5. Visit The Oasis at sunset for incredible Texas sky views!  It feels like you’re transported to another country when you’re having dinner and overlooking Lake Travis.

  6. Grab the gang and golf at Peter Pan (BYOB) or go to Top Golf near the Domain and hit some balls out of the park!

  7. Walk down South Congress for great shopping at Madewell or Kendra Scott and get your brunch on at Cafe No Se. Speaking of breakfast and brunch, Phoebe's Diner and Snooze are my other favorites. You can’t go wrong with the blueberry pancakes at Snooze, or the eggs benny at Phoebe’s.

  8. Have a homemade pastry and coffee on Lake Austin at Mozart's and drive through Tarrytown to see some of the most beautiful homes! Talk about an architect's dream!

  9. Head to Rainey Street in the evening and party it up with your bachelor or bachelorette gangs! Rainey is full of vibrant culture and art. Listen to live music, and make sure and visit the Lustre Pearl. Dance it out at the Container Bar!

  10. Visit Lazarus Brewing for incredible coffee, beer and tacos!

  11. Head to Black Swan Yoga and try a class to get your body loosened up.

Venturing outside Austin:

  1. Walk around the cutest artsy town of Wimberley, and eat the best pizza of your life at Community Beer GardenLeaning Pear is another favorite restaurant of mine for hill country inspired cuisine.

  2. Head to the beach in Marble Falls, and walk through the quaint antique shops. Stop for a meal at the Blue Bonnet Cafe (make sure and get their pie)! Venture even further and walk through Long Horn Caverns State Park. Visit Sweet Berry Farm in Marble Falls for strawberry picking, tulip season, or pumpkin picking depending on the season.

  3. Take a drive through the beautiful rolling Hill Country and have a bite to eat at Hays City Store and listen to some live music.

  4. Visit Fredericksburg and go wine tasting at the many local wineries or breweries. Signor Vineyards is my favorite!

  5. Camp/hike through Enchanted Rock or many of the bouldering areas in Reimers Ranch /Greenbelt.

There is so much to do in Austin, but these are just some of my top faves!
