5 Tips On How to Include Your Pup On The Wedding Day

Who do you know that is constantly by your side, greets you at the door every day with a kiss, and will make sure you are always protected? Sure, you may be thinking of your significant other…but you may also be thinking your beloved dog!

What better way to show them love than to include them in your wedding photos or walk them down the aisle?

Here are 5 tips on how to include your dog at your wedding!

  1. Dress those pups up!

When thinking about a bow tie or a floral color, remember that your pup will be in photos and you will want to incorporate colors that go with your chosen color palette. It’s not a bad idea to give them a trial run with their neck decor a few days before to make sure they don’t try and rip it off.

  2. Have a loved one walk them down the aisle

Having a bridal party member walk your dog down the aisle is perfect, but just make sure you practice first! You also want to make sure they go potty before their grand debut. The last thing you need is for a pup to take a leak on your dress. If your pup gets a little anxious up there, have someone designated in the front to take the pup. As much as everyone wants to see the dog, your guests are there to see you and you don’t want them to be distracted.

  3. Include your pup in photos

Tell your photographer to capture some portraits with your pup. Make sure and remember a decorative leash and or collar. You can even give some treats to your photographer to capture your pet’s attention during photos.

  4. Have pet stationary made

If your furry friend can’t make it, you can always honor them by having cocktail napkins or cookies with their sweet face made. You can also include a photo of them on your bar menu and name a drink after them.

  5. Bring your pup in the morning to hang out in the getting ready suites

If you think your pup may be too tired for the ceremony and reception, bring them in the morning to hang out with the bridal party. You can even get photos of your pup next to your dress or in the classic bridesmaid robes photos. There is nothing better than mimosas and puppy cuddles the morning of your wedding to calm the nerves.
